TELL ME MORE ABOUT STOCK PHOTOGRAPHY
I supply photographs to stock libraries such as Istockphoto, Shutterstock and Alamy. The libraries are used by web designers, newspaper and magazine editors and small business owners. They pay a subscription to download images. So for example if a magazine was doing a story on destination weddings they might search “beach, wedding, Thailand” and find one of my photos.
If I take your photo for stock you will need to sign a model release. This is a form to show you have given permission for your photos to be used in this way.
If you are having an interesting event such as a fashion show or cultural event I would like to hear from you. I will cover events for a small fee if I can get useful stock images.
Do I know if my photo is used?
Sometimes I see my images in publications and sometimes buyers email me and let me know they have used an image. But usually I am not notified because the subscribers are buying so many images each month and don’t have the time to contact individual photographers. If I know your photo is being used I will be sure to let you know.
Who can be a stock model?
Anyone can be a stock model, not just professional models. Many buyers like everyday people in natural settings as well as studio shots of real models.
If you are a professional model I am happy to do TFP (there is a charge for the stylist who does hair and make-up). If you are a customer I can offer discount in exchange for a model release.
I am especially interested in photographing Thai people, senior citizens, children, professional models, people with amazing hair and dancers.
